The General Operator will float between all four departments (Mechanical, Polish, Front Anodize and Assembly) fulfilling the job duties in all departments as needed.
Assignments will be given daily by the shift superintendent to cover for absenteeism.
Duties to include but not limited to:
Mechanical:
Follows all safety rules regarding machine operation and proper guarding.
Gauge first parts and in process parts, record inspection results.
Monitor machine operations and recognize defective parts.
Work on different types of equipment to carry out a particular phase of the production cycle.
Safely use debur wheels to remove excess material from part.
Sanding as needed depending on area.
Polish:
Verify quality of finished work pieces by inspecting them, comparing them to templates, measuring their dimensions, or testing them in working machinery.
Mark defects for possible rework.
Assist in minor repair and maintain equipment, objects, or parts, using hand tools.
Conduct routine TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) on Polish equipment.
Change polishing wheel when needed.
(Buff rotations & buff changes) Transfer equipment, objects, or parts to specified work areas, using moving devices.
Utilize Department specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
Polish objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools as needed.
Load and adjust work pieces onto equipment or work tables, using hand tools when needed.
Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure polishing standards are met.
Move controls to adjust, start, or stop equipment during polishing processes.
Remove completed work pieces from equipment or work tables, using hand tools, and place work pieces in containers.
Select abrasives and/or pastes, according to materials, sizes and shapes of work pieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes.
Front Anodize:
Main responsibility is loading, unloading and inspection of aluminum automotive trim parts onto anodizing racks in a timely, efficient and safe manner.
At the start of the shift, ensure anodize load area lights are on, inspect the work area for safety concerns, abnormal conditions, etc.
Report any abnormalities to the team leader or supervisor immediately before starting production.
Inspect racks, clamps and clips.
Ensure tight fit of rack clamps onto anodizing flight bar.
If more than four (4) clips are damaged or missing, the rack must be exchanged.
Identify damaged racks with red zip tie, take them down for repair.
Replace bad rack with correct rack.
Visually inspect parts for defects.
If parts are acceptable, carefully load parts onto racks.
Check to ensure part is secure on rack.
Inspect material and rack to ensure proper and tight fit.
Ensure that flight bars have the correct amount of racks and racks the correct amount of parts to guarantee best quantity outcome.
Changes racks on flight bars according to production schedule and needs Assembly:
Follow work instruction to assemble metal components using fixtures, jigs and hand tools.
Monitor assembly operations; inspect parts for defects according to VDA 16 and Quality Alerts.
Perform first piece/last piece and in process inspection as required by work instructions and Quality Alerts.
Gauge parts according to work instructions.
Fill out daily checklist at beginning of operation and every hour afterwards/or as required.
Compare Confirmation Sheets and material tickets to verify correct material is used at work stations.
Examine material, verify parts numbers and check discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts.
Ensure that parts are always properly identified with the correct part labels.
Perform layered audit and quality checks as required.

General Job Duties:
Track parts and record defects and scrap.
Take care of routine machine maintenance and keeping work area in neat condition.
Utilize aspects of 5-S and Lock Out - Tag Out (LOTO) as required.
Follow work instructions and directions to produce required quantity of parts within required tolerances.
Wear required protective PPE and handle parts with extreme care to prevent damage to parts or injury.
Material handling functions as required.
Will operate a pallet jack.
Populate hourly production boards.
Handle scrap and rework parts according to work instructions.
Demonstrate & train on equipment operations, work and safety procedures to new employees.
Any other duties assigned by Management.
EDUCATION AND
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) 6 Months of Manufacturing Experience preferred.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
